FC Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez denied Ansu Fati to Real Madrid rumours on Friday saying that he is present and the future of the club.
Fati, 20, feels that he is not trusted by Xavi and has decided to leave the club as he wants to get regular playing time.
But, a move to the arch-rivals is completely ruled out by Xavi.
“Ansu Fati to Real Madrid? It's a joke, right?” Xavi said. “I already said that Ansu is the club's heritage. He is an important player and he will continue to be so. He's present and future.”
The Spaniard wants to leave the Catalan club as many clubs from the Premier League including Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham have been linked with the forward.
The youngster wants to play regularly but has been left out of the starting XI ever since he returned from a meniscus injury. He was also left frustrated when Abde Ezzalzouli and Lamine Yamal came on before him against Barca’s league opener on August 13 against Getafe.
Although, Fati still has four years left on his contract, the footballer thinks that his time at the Blaugrana club is over.
Fati made his debut in 2019 at the age of 16 and became the youngest goal-scorer in the club’s history as he scored in a 2-2 draw against Osasuna.
He also became the youngest goal-scorer in the UEFA Champions League history at the age of 17 after scoring against Inter Milan in a 1-2 away victory at San Siro.
He was also one of the hottest prospects in the world with his elite shooting technique and dribbling skills but he stayed nine months on the sidelines after tearing a meniscus in his left knee.
It was considered in 2021 that Fati is going to be the face of the club for years to come when he inherited Lionel Messi’s iconic number 10 after the Argentine left the club but it seems that is not going to happen.
He has made a total of 110 appearances for the Catalan club with 29 goals and 10 assists to his name.
